My little bug is growing up so fast. He seems more like a little boy than a baby. He will be 15 months on the 22nd of this month, which absolutely amazes me. He is just the love of my life!
On a side note...I apologize for so few postings over the past few weeks. I have been quite busy with Jax, as well as working on some "life things," and projects. Stay posted though...lots of good stuff in the future! Yay!
Last week, Jax and I jumped into Chama and Bob's truck and headed to Riffe Lake with them for three nights of camping. Words cannot describe how HOT it was, nor can they describe the damage the mosquitos did on us. Poor little Jax got about 20 bites on his face and head alone. My back was covered in them, not to mention the wasp sting on my right arm that is still recovering. It was Jax' first time in a lake, which he absolutely loved. I am so proud of him. He wore a life jacket and sat in his little froggie, and loved floating around. It was fun!
I am so proud of my baby. I know this is super late for walking, but I don't care, because I love him. Try to ignore my terribly annoying scream in the background, I just couldn't help myself. I am so grateful to have gotten his first steps on video.
Well, we finally chopped off the original faux hawk. His hair was getting so long, his bangs were almost hanging in his eyes. It wasn't anything too fancy...Kenn distracted him with Coco Puffs, while I wet and cut his hair with scrap booking scissors. He looks very cute, but more grown up. For some weird reason it gave me some major anxiety. I suppose it is just one of his many "rites of passage" to come along. I really shouldn't be surprised, considering how much I cried after his first birthday party. All-in-all, Jax is growing up and his new little haircut is adorable. Love, love, love my little bug!
Saturday afternoon, I decided to take a nap, and then I woke up and realized that my two boys had disappeared. Kenn and Jax had gone to Franklin Park for the Folk Life Festival. I didn't want to miss out, so I met up with them as soon as I could. While I was napping they had a corndog, fresh-squeezed lemonade and an ice cream sandwich...and of course, Jax was in heaven. They also bought me a couple of nice little gifts. We sat on the grass and listened to the music while Jax made his rounds. He crawled around to different groups of people and he would just pop-a-squat, and hang out for a few minutes until he was ready to come back to mommy and dada. The cutest was when he crawled over to a group of little girls, where he instantly scored a cookie. It absolutely melted my heart.
We spent 4th of July weekend in Camano Island, WA, where we camped, went crabbing, watched fireworks, visited the Marysville Outlets, and had lots of fun! Downfall...the TENT...and the ONE YEAR OLD! It made camping quite difficult and we are definitely on the lookout for a camper now. Most importantly though, the kids had a great time and we ate lots of yummy crab!
Kenn's brother, Dan, and I both celebrate our birthday on the same day...July 1st. Dan has been a little under the weather lately, so we surprised him with a party at Deb's house in Kennewick. As always it was so nice to see everyone...Kevin and Laura, Robin, Travis, Heidi and the boys, and of course Deb, Aunt Robin and Uncle Dan. Even though we all squish into Aunt Deb's little place, we always have such a great time. Can you imagine 9 people staying the night in a one bedroom apartment? Well we do it, and we have fun doing it! ...and of course breakfast was the remainder of the ice cream cake. There are no rules at Deb's house!
I just got back from this movie and it was by far the saddest movie I have EVER seen! If you want to cry, then watch it. If you don't want to cry, then stay far, far away! I'm sure this movie would touch anyone who has a heart, but for those of us with children, it is gut wrenchingly painful to watch. After I watched it, all I wanted to do was hug Jax and keep him close to me.
Yesterday we went to Franklin Pool. I hadn't been there in years, so I wasn't sure what to expect of a public pool. To be quite honest, it wasn't all that bad. I loved the kiddie pool, which was great for Jax and Maggie, and the slide was so much fun for Drew and Berk. I think we will go back again soon.
